3 NATURAL INGREDIENTS TO DETANGLE 4-C HAIR

From the looks of the video in this post, my hair seems to be not of this world.

It may not have been what Walter Scott meant when he wrote,"Oh what a web we weave, when at 1st we practice to deceive.", but it sure is what my hair might say if it could have a few words with me right now.

Concrete is a material comprised of a number of coarse aggregates (particulate materials such as sand, gravel, crushed stone, and slag) bonded with cement. Cement is a substance that is used to bind materials, such as aggregate, by adhering to said materials, then hardening over time.

My strands of hair feel like a Rose trying to grow from concrete with cement being the lint, dirt, and yuck adhering to my hair strands, then hardening over time. After not providing the care my hair needed for months, I knew there would be major repair needed for the damage I'd done. The dry, brittle sound of my coarse hair sent chills thru my body, especially because I "knew better". As a Naturalista who grew her hair to bra-strap length with good natural hair care, I definitely knew better.

Why wasn't I doing better. Well, I made other actions a priority

  • losing over 220lbs, which I did naturally...

  • building my dream reality_ body, mind, soul, career, relationships, etc...

  • I stopped taking vitamins regularly...

  • I stopped getting trims

Basically, I "fell off" my consistent good natural hair care for over almost two years and have paid a dear price. I needed to "flip the script" and put my hair and skin care back on the top 5 of self-care priorities.

Since I knew how to rock scarves and hats I was not in a hurry to follow my natural hair care routine in between nor while wearing braids. I did not value my crown. I let my crown down. After being disappointed in myself for a few seconds, I reminded myself of the stoic I am and remembered:

"This too shall pass." - original author is unknown

"AMOR FATI" - Walter Scott

"When you know better, you do better" - Maya Angelou (Often quoted by my mom.)

"Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is best."- St. Jerome (1st heard from Delores Parker-My K-1 Teacher and Later my colleague)

Lest not forget, I've been here and done that. Damaging my hair with poor hair care in the past is the reason I "went natural" over 5 years ago. I knew what I needed to do to refresh, revive, and regrow and restore my dry, lackluster hair.

Determining what minerals and vitamins to feed my hair was step 1. After acknowledging some nutritional deficiencies as a result my diet, I had to modify it to meet my hair, skin, & nail nutritional needs as well. Like the hip-hop group Black Sheep rhymed in The Choice is Yours, If your train falls off the track, pick it up, pick it up. Back on the scene, crispy, and clean..."

The choice was mine. Therefore, I went into back to my BLACK NATURAL BLISS Kitchen and dug into the crates for my essential oils, books, and research on hair care. The result, a bottle of natural nutrients to help turn my hair strands into a a shiny, voluminous, and moisturized rose bush that grew from concrete. (see video and Recipe card below)

I also devised a nutritional plan that includes nutrient supplements and herbs such as

Essential fatty acids

Vitamin B complex

and much more. Subscribe to receive the BNB Newletter and the details to the BNB Hair Loss Nutrional plan.. The focus for the Month of May is Hair Loss.

Picking my train of falling hair off the floor and putting my hair care routine back on track is how #BlackNaturalBlissHairChallenge began. I challenged myself to care for my hair daily using Natural Food, Natural Supplements, and DIY Natural Hair Products for 30 days.
